JBS Terminals Secures Exclusive Operations for U.S. East Coast Cargo at Itajaí-Açu Complex

Starting in December 2024, JBS Terminals, the lessee of the Port of Itajaí, will take on exclusive operations of the USA to SAEC (String 1) service, also known as USA I, at the Rio Itajaí-Açu Port Complex. This service will handle container shipments between Itajaí and the U.S. East Coast.
Operated by MSC, the world’s largest container shipping company, the USA I service consists of 12 vessels with capacities ranging from 5,500 TEUs to 8,700 TEUs (TEU refers to the equivalent unit of a 20-foot container).
Key Cargo Categories
Exports: Wood and wood products, ceramic goods, and frozen meat.
Imports: Plastics and plastic products, beverages, rubber, and derivatives.
This operation underscores the Rio Itajaí-Açu Complex’s strategic role in Brazilian foreign trade, solidifying its position as a critical hub for exports and imports connecting to the U.S. East Coast.
