JBS, through its subsidiary Seara, will take over operations at the Braskarne port terminal in Itajaí, heralding a significant increase in cargo volume and a boost to the local economy. The announcement was confirmed by the Minister of Infrastructure, who emphasized JBS’s crucial role in bringing progress to Brazil’s port sector. As one of the world’s largest food companies, JBS’s extensive experience in port terminal operations augments confidence in the success of this new venture.
Operations are anticipated to commence in the second half of the year, pending the completion of customs procedures by the Federal Revenue Service. This step is essential to ensure the legality and safety of port activities, allowing operations to resume smoothly.

The Port of Itajaí is fully equipped to accommodate JBS, with infrastructure including cabling, a camera system, fenders, and bollards, as well as upgraded equipment for cargo handling. These preparations are aimed at ensuring efficient and safe port operations.
JBS’s involvement is expected to bring numerous benefits to the company, the city, and the region. Job creation, increased goods flow, and economic development are among the anticipated advantages of this partnership.
Furthermore, JBS plans to invest an additional 12 billion reais in Brazil by 2026, contingent on its planned listing of shares in the United States, according to CEO Gilberto Tomazoni in an interview with Forbes.
