On Monday, the SCPAR Porto de Imbituba team visited the National Institute of Waterway Research (INPH) headquarters in Rio de Janeiro to discuss the harbor complex’s shelter jetty maintenance and reinforcement project. The funding for the revitalization of this infrastructure asset, estimated at R$ 100 million, has been included in the investments planned by the federal government in the New PAC (Growth Acceleration Program), as announced last week.
During the INPH presentation, Domenico Accetta, the Institute’s General Coordinator, provided a fully-updated recovery project to the Imbituba management team, along with a Technical Responsibility Report for the project. As per the federal government’s timeline, the fundamental engineering project and the environmental license for the Port of Imbituba improvement are anticipated to be completed and delivered by the end of this year. The INPH had previously been responsible for the most recent project for the wharf recovery in Imbituba.
The institutional visit also offered the opportunity to explore the agency’s laboratories, which house scaled-down physical models for hydraulic simulations. These models enable the agency to conduct future studies related to port expansion.
