
Led by Brazil, Portuguese-speaking countries expand trade with China by 40.8% in the first half

The total value of trade between China and Portuguese-speaking countries reached US$ 90.98 billion in the first half of 2021, representing an increase of 40.8%, compared to the same period in 2020.
Compared to the same period in 2019, when a total value of US$ 70.14 billion was registered, the growth was 29.7%.
In terms of specific countries, Brazil, China’s largest trading partner among the group’s members, saw annual growth of 42.8% in the total value of imports and exports with China, reaching US$ 74.33 billion.
Angola, China’s second-largest trading partner among Portuguese-speaking countries, witnessed a 25.1% increase in the total value of trade with the Asian country, with US$ 10.65 billion.
Imports and exports between China and Portugal totaled US$ 4.16 billion, an increase of 35.7% compared to the same period in 2020. As for Mozambique, the value reached US$ 1.6 billion, an annual increase of 49%.
Trade between other Portuguese-speaking countries and China totaled less than US$ 1 billion for each country.
