Lesotho opens borders for hatching egg shipments from Brazil
Jun, 11, 2024 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek 202424
The Kingdom of Lesotho, located in southern Africa, has opened its border to shipments of hatching eggs, day-old chicks, and live birds from Brazil. This important development was announced in a statement released by the Ministry of Agriculture on Monday, June 10th, which noted that negotiations had been ongoing since November last year.
Brazil received authorization to export poultry meat to the African region in May of this year. According to the ministry, these announcements are expected to bolster trade flows between Brazil and Lesotho.
“The new authorization reflects the high level of confidence in Brazil’s health control system and presents future opportunities for Brazilian producers, given the significant potential for demographic expansion and economic growth in the African continent,” the ministry’s statement read.
Since the beginning of 2023, Brazil has opened markets for 144 new agricultural products across 51 countries on five continents.
