Log-In Logística Integrada has announced the launch of its new ship, the Log-In Experience (LOEX), as part of the company’s efforts to enhance efficiency and modernize its operations. The vessel, considered one of the most advanced in the fleet alongside the Log-In Evolution (LOEV), will serve the company’s Cabotage and Mercosur services within the South Atlantic Service (SAS), replacing the chartered ship MSC Belmonte III.
With a capacity of 3,158 TEUs, the new ship began operations in late July, marking a significant milestone in Log-In’s expansion plans. The Log-In Experience was purchased as part of an $85.2 million investment, including the acquisition of the Log-In Evolution earlier this year. These two new vessels are expected to boost operational efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, save fuel, and enhance safety and service delivery. Over the past five years, Log-In has invested approximately R$1 billion in the modernization and expansion of its fleet.
Felipe Gurgel, Log-In’s Commercial Director, highlighted that the arrival of the Experience and Evolution strengthens the company’s reliability and solidifies its position as a key player in the market. “The acquisition of the Log-In Experience aligns with our strategic plan and the company’s current growth phase. We are elevating our fleet to a new level of robustness and sustainability, with modern and highly efficient vessels, delivering faster and safer services to our customers while improving the energy efficiency of our operations and contributing to a more sustainable logistics sector,” he remarked.
Log-In Experience
Measuring 199.98 meters in length, the Log-In Experience stands out for its high nominal capacity and advanced technological integration, allowing for real-time remote monitoring through telemetry. Equipped with an optimized propulsion system that integrates the hull, propeller, and engine, the ship offers enhanced energy efficiency, reducing fuel consumption and lowering emissions.
The vessel features frequency inverters for precise control of electric motors, lowering overall energy consumption and extending the lifespan of its equipment. Once operational, the ship’s Cold Ironing system will allow it to be powered by clean energy while docked, eliminating the need for internal fuel burning and contributing to the company’s ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) agenda through improved energy efficiency and decarbonization.
Additionally, the Log-In Experience utilizes catalysts that reduce nitrogen oxides (NOx) in exhaust gases and harness waste heat to generate energy more economically. Compared to the ship it replaced, the new vessel promises a 35% reduction in gas emissions for the same distance traveled and cargo volume (TEUs x Nautical Mile).
“We have implemented significant upgrades across almost all our fleet in recent years beyond the acquisition of the LOEX and LOEV, and the Log-In Endurance in 2019, ensuring continuous evolution in our vessels, keeping us at the forefront of efficiency and sustainability,” Gurgel concluded.
