Log-In showcases modernization efforts at TVV during Ports Secretary visit

On June 19, Log-In Logística Intermodal welcomed Fabrizio Pierdomenico, the National Secretary for Ports and Waterway Transport, at the Port Terminal of Vila Velha (TVV) in the Organized Port of Vitória, Espírito Santo.

The purpose of the meeting was to present the terminal as a significant player in Cabotage and multimodal transport. The secretary was also interested in getting to know the business plan for the multipurpose port terminal in Espírito Santo, with a particular focus on the ongoing project to modernize TVV, which is expected to be completed by 2023.

During the discussions, the secretary was also briefed on the forthcoming improvements in infrastructure for port users following the privatization of the local port authority, now known as Vports.

Approximately R$ 147 million has already been invested in equipment, automation, and increased terminal capacity to make the modernization plan feasible. Notable investments include acquiring new equipment, such as reach stackers, to enhance reliability and safety in terminal operations.

Additionally, the Log-In Group purchased 14 trailer planks, resulting in a 67% increase in cargo transport capacity within the terminal’s internal cycle. Previously, the trailers had a capacity for moving 35 tonnes, which went up to 65 tonnes.

Another significant step towards increasing TVV’s productivity was the acquisition of two Mobile Harbor Cranes (MHCs) with an individual capacity of 154 tons, creating the conditions for the simultaneous handling of loads weighing up to 300 tons, enhancing operational capacity for various types of cargo, particularly large ones, with greater efficiency and safety.

According to Gustavo Paixão, Log-In’s Director of Terminals, these cranes incorporate pioneering technology in Brazil, allowing a single operator to control two cranes simultaneously, ensuring safer operations. “By having these high-standard cranes, TVV holds a strategic position among the key players in the logistics industry, not only in Espírito Santo but across the country,” he emphasized.

The strategy to modernize and expand the terminal’s capacity includes implementing technological solutions in the access areas, resulting in improved vehicle transit and greater flexibility in transportation entry and exit.

Paixão highlighted another innovative aspect: the application of new solutions in the company’s Ship To Shore Crane (STS), also known as portainers, used for loading and unloading containers from ships through remote operations.

“TVV will continue to invest in automation. In this approach, operators leave the cabin on top of the crane and control the equipment from a room equipped with multiple screens, ensuring complete operational control with enhanced ergonomics, safety, and performance,” explained Paixão.
