In January 2024, the Amazon Express Service (SEA) expanded its operations to include weekly stops at the Paranaguá Container Terminal (TCP), adding to its portfolio of coastal shipping routes. This service, operated by Log-In Logística Intermodal in partnership with Aliança Navegações, boasts four container ships, each with an average capacity of 2,650 TEUs.
The inaugural docking of this service occurred on February 6, with the Log-In Discovery vessel leading the way. With a capacity of 2,546 TEUs, a length of 209m, and a width of 30m, it berthed at TCP’s pier. Besides Paranaguá, SEA’s vessels also call at Navegantes (SC), Santos (SP), Salvador (BA), Suape (PE), and Pecém (CE).
“Coastal shipping offers several advantages, including reduced environmental impact, lower logistics costs, and decreased risk of damages. This service’s introduction of regular calls at TCP provides an efficient logistics solution for our clients and fosters economic development in our state,” states Carolina Merkle Brown, TCP’s commercial manager for shipping lines.
A notable feature of this service is its transit time on the north-south route: from Manaus to Paranaguá, taking only 12 days. Vessels in this direction make stops only at Santos and Navegantes, while on the south-north journey, additional calls are made in Salvador, Suape, and Pecém. This facilitates transportation of goods from the Manaus Industrial Hub, improving connections with Paraná.
“The recent structural enhancements and equipment acquisitions enable our terminal to accommodate new weekly services. This reflects positively on client satisfaction, increased maritime call options, and growing berthing activity at TCP,” concludes Carolina.
TCP Achieves New Month-Wise Berthing Record
In January, the Paranaguá Container Terminal welcomed 88 vessels, setting a new record in ship traffic and surpassing the previous mark set in December, which was 83. Currently, the terminal hosts 22 weekly services, including 20 long-haul and two coastal routes
