From March 5th to 7th, A.P. Moller-Maersk (Maersk), a global logistics player, will join the 28th edition of Intermodal South America alongside other companies – Aliança Navegação e Logística and APM Terminals. This prestigious event, held in São Paulo, brings together professionals and companies from various parts of the world.
According to Mauricio Mei, Maersk’s Head of Sales on the East Coast of Latin America, Intermodal serves as a strategic platform for generating new business opportunities and will be used to reinforce the company’s strengths and successful case studies. “This is one of the main events in our industry, which significantly drives both national and international economies. We have high expectations and, besides commercial goals, we aim to showcase our integrated solutions and successful projects to visitors and partners, including warehouses and various transport modes like road and air.”
Leveraging its century-old maritime experience, the group aims to showcase all the services and modes under its wings. This includes land, air, and rail transport, warehouses, cold chain logistics, project logistics, lead logistics, port terminals, as well as maritime and river transportation. Visitors will also have the opportunity to learn more about the group’s sustainable initiatives, as it leads global decarbonization efforts in the sector.
Aliança Navegação e Logística, a pioneering logistics integrator in coastal shipping celebrating 70 years of operation, operates in 14 Brazilian ports with 9 vessels. In addition to individualized services, it will present its customized logistics solutions nationwide, covering maritime and road transport, as well as rail and river transportation, alongside warehousing and storage services. The company is capable of efficiently transporting large cargo volumes via maritime transport, with safety, efficiency, broad geographic coverage, and reduced environmental impact over long distances. A single ship transports the equivalent of 3,000 trucks, contributing to carbon emission reduction in the supply chain.
APM Terminals, with over half a century of operating terminals worldwide, will also introduce innovations in its operations in Brazil, such as at APM Terminals Pecém (CE). This terminal serves as a strategic connection point between the Southern and Southeastern regions and the North and Northeastern regions of Brazil. Notable investments in the last two years, totaling R$ 200 million, have been made in new state-of-the-art electrified equipment and a warehouse located 6 kilometers from the Port of Pecém, covering an area of one thousand square meters. This enhances service possibilities, operating 24/7.
“The expansion of our storage capacity provides greater adaptability to our terminal operation, a key factor for agile responses to significant and sporadic cargo increases, ensuring continuous services with high security,” comments Daniel Rose, CEO of APM Terminals Pecém.
Furthermore, Intermodal visitors will learn more about the ongoing project, APM Terminals Suape (PE), the first 100% electrified port terminal in Latin America with modern infrastructure designed to meet customer needs, featuring pioneering sustainability initiatives in port operations. It will also have its own 5G network, enabling real-time information transmission to clients 24/7.
“With an investment of R$ 1.6 billion in the first implementation phase, the new container terminal in Pernambuco will initially handle 400,000 TEUs, increasing the capacity of the port complex by 55%, accelerating regional development, and enhancing the port competitiveness of northeastern Brazil,” adds Aristides Russi Junior, CEO of APM Terminals Suape.
