Maersk’s AC6 service ships will skip the scale at Ningbo Meishan because of terminal closure

Maersk announced that the AC6 Service ships that connect Asia with South America will stop calling at Ningbo Meishan due to the terminal’s closure caused by the detection of a Covid-19-infected port worker.

The shipowner explained that for the time being, 2M Alliance ships continue to operate normally, albeit with a waiting time of 2 days in Phase 4 of the Ningbo Beilun container terminal in the same port of Ningbo-Zhoushan.

In this context, some ships that call at the MSICT have started to move to other terminals in the port of Ningbo.

Maersk has a VSA AC6 (Asia-South America) service on MSICT and for that reason, all AC6 vessels in August will omit the call at Ningbo.

The operation of trucks related to empty or loaded containers to/from Meishan Port is suspended from 11 August until further notice. The same situation occurs with the Ningbo Bluedragon warehouse.

At the Ningbo Beilun Phase 4 Container Terminal, in addition to the 2-day wait there is a yard density of 82% for loaded containers and 71% for empty ones, Maersk says.

Vessels that will bypass the Meishan Island International Container Terminal are APL Barcelona, ​​​​Seaspan Oceania, CMA CGM Musca, APL Le Havre, and Hanover Express, all part of the AC6 service.
