MAPA: China has requested updated information on 56 cold-storage plants waiting for licenses

MAPA (the ministry of agriculture, livestock, and food supply) acted quickly to deny that China had refused new licenses for 70 Brazilian cold-storage plants after the information began circulating in social network applications on Tuesday.
Amid the most recent news from the Chinese government, which has adopted contingency measures on imports outside the quota of some commodities to control the flow of foreign exchange and alleviate inflationary pressure, the information caused some concern in the market.
According to a statement from the ministry, there are 56 plants on hold for analysis of qualifications and Beijing is asking for technical information to be updated, a procedure considered “normal” after China paralyzed the processes.
“This work had been suspended since the beginning of the pandemic, due to the need for this body to dedicate its staff to activities related to the prevention and control of the pandemic”, says the Ministry, referring to the General Customs Administration in the People’s Republic of China (GACC ).
