Marfrig informed, on the 23rd, that its unit located in Mineiros (GO) can now export beef to the United States. Built in 2007, the Mineiros plant has 1.1 thousand employees.
The Goiás-based meat-packing company is the eighth in the country to be granted permission to sell beef in the American market. The plants in Alegrete (RS), Bagé (RS), Bataguassu (MS), Chupinguaia (RO), Pampeano (RS), Promissão (SP) and São Gabriel (RS) are already certified to send shipments to the USA.
“The unit was licensed after undergoing an extensive audit, which verified compliance with US’s sanitary protocols,” said Marfrig, in a statement.
“The newly-granted permission comes at a very favorable time, due to the excellent scenario in the United States, which has shown strong demand for Brazilian beef. An interesting detail is that we are using our American platform to add even more value to exports,” said the company’s export director, Alisson Navarro.
