Meat exports to China to resume in late March: association
Mar, 06, 2023 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek 202313
Meat exports to China should resume at the end of March after the visit of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to the country, according to the Brazilian Association of Meat Exporters (Abiec). The sale of the animal protein to the Asian market has been suspended for the past two weeks since the government of Pará identified a case of “mad cow disease” in its territory, which was since then confirmed as isolated and atypical – of natural causes – last week by the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH).
Lula’s trip to China will begin on the 28th and should last four days. In addition to resuming meat exports to China, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Development, Industry, Commerce, Services, and Innovation anticipate that bilateral agreements in areas such as climate change, energy efficiency, technology and innovation, agriculture, and defense will be discussed and signed.
