The Brazilian subsidiary of Mercedez-Benz informed on Thursday, August 25, 2022, that it has expanded sales of vehicles produced at the company’s São Bernardo do Campo unit, in São Paulo, to South Africa.
More than 150 Brazilian-made motor vehicles were sold from January to August alone. The company highlights the export of the OF 1726 and OF 1730 chassis, both front-engined, with 260 hp and 300 hp, respectively. These models are produced mostly for export in Brazil.
Putco Limited, a key market player in the charter sector, transporting over 230 thousand passengers daily, is one of the primary companies in South Africa that import Mercedes-Benz chassis from Brazil.
In 2021, the company received 100 units of the OF 1726. In August of the same year, it received its 100th vehicle from Brazil.
The vehicles received bodies at Marcopolo, produced in South Africa.
