
Minister from Brazil travels to Iran to discuss urea imports

Tereza Cristina, the Minister of Agriculture, traveled to Iran to meet with Seyed Javad Sadati Nejadi, the Minister of Agriculture, and deputy Muhammad Askari, the Chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s Agriculture Commission to discuss urea imports on behalf of Brazil.
Meetings with representatives of the Brazil-Iran Chamber of Commerce and the Business Forum between the two countries are also planned, as well as visits to the Shiraz Petrochemical Company, a major urea producer, and the Shiraz Chamber of Commerce.
Cristina’s agenda in the country includes discussing matters related to the trade relationship with Brazil, such as Iranian urea imports.
Brazil exported US$ 1.9 billion in agricultural products to Iran in 2020, with corn (64.4%) and soybeans in grains accounting for the majority of the total (21.2%). Iranian agricultural exports to Brazil, on the other hand, totaled US$ 2 million in 2020, primarily walnuts and chestnuts, dried grapes, and other preserved fruits.
