Silvio Costa Filho, Brazil’s Minister of Ports and Airports, is on the search for international investments to meet the government’s goal of creating more than 30 new ports in Brazil by 2028. The idea is to deepen bilateral partnerships with Arab countries, expand coastal shipping, and improve infrastructure to facilitate the export of Brazilian products.
Costa Filho has been in Asia since last Monday (11/27) as part of President Lula’s delegation to the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 28) in Dubai.
Event
On the last day of November, the minister, along with President Lula, participated in the Brazil-Qatar Business Forum in Doha. In a video on social media, he explained that the event was used as a display to showcase opportunities in ports and airports, oil and gas, and infrastructure investments.
“I have no doubt that in the next five years, we will see a significant volume of Arab investments in Brazil, generating employment and income, and, above all, stimulating the country’s development.”
The day before, he mentioned the goal of increasing port throughput. “All partnerships are very welcome to the country, so we want to make ourselves available to everyone to share the projects and streamline processes to attract investments to Brazil,” said the minister.
Participation
In his speech at the Brazil-Saudi Arabia business seminar on Wednesday (11/29) in Riyadh, which aims to seek new investments for developing the country’s infrastructure modes, Costa Filho stated that “Brazil is currently a great window of opportunity for new foreign investments.”
According to the minister, this is due to various factors, including strengthening Brazilian institutions, legal security, economic stability, predictability, and a favorable business environment.
According to the World Bank’s report, Brazil is the second most sought-after country by international investors. “This demonstrates that we have high profitability for investors, higher than any investment in Europe or the American market. Undoubtedly, this is an instrument that strengthens the possibility of new investments,” said Costa Filho.
