The Ministry of Ports and Airports (MPor) announced on Friday (27) a reduction of 83% in the port tariff for the so-called Table 1 of the Tariff Structure of the Port of Angra dos Reis. MPor will also maintain the discounts on the Rio Port tariffs, which were set to expire next week and can reach up to 96%, depending on the cargo and vessel capacity.
These reductions and the maintenance of discounts were determined after evaluating studies commissioned by MPor to the Port Authority PortosRios. The tariff cut at the Port of Angra dos Reis will take effect within ten days.
According to the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, these measures align with the new Federal Government’s directives to boost infrastructure in the port sector and make public ports more competitive, with a direct impact on the logistics chain. “By promoting the flow at these ports, these initiatives will generate employment and income for the local population, stimulating the economy, which is one of President Lula’s government directives,” he stated.
