Natal Port tests new way of shipping salt to the US

The Natal Port is working hard to expand its cargo portfolio. In the coming days, a ship will leave Brazilian shores loaded with five thousand tonnes of salt that will head to the United States.
This operation will take place on experimental grounds, and if successful, it may give birth to a new type of recurrent operation at the Rio Grande do Norte-based terminal. Instead of metallic boxes or the traditional breakbulk method, the salt is being transported in bag bags, which are flexible containers used for medium-sized volumes that can hold any type of solid granulated items or even liquids.
“There is a logistical demand from customers that we are trying to meet. This means more revenue for CODERN and for the state in the form of taxes. In addition to warming the economy up, more operations mean more jobs and income available,” commented the president of the state company responsible for managing the port, Nino Ubarana.
Exporting a new type of cargo through new methods shows the capacity of the Natal Port for moving various loads, not to mention its long-standing expertise in fruit exports, which are set to restart in August with a new company, GreenSea, which is expected to ship 10,000 pallets per week if next season melon and watermelons.
