According to the developers, construction of the new port in São Francisco do Sul, Santa Catarina, is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2025. The Babitonga Grain Terminal (TGB) will receive an investment of approximately R$2 billion and will focus on agricultural exports from the South, Midwest, and Southeast regions of Brazil. The port’s initial capacity is projected to handle up to 9 million tonnes of cargo per year, with the potential to expand to 16 million tonnes.
The project has already obtained all the necessary permits, and according to Director Alexandre Fernandes, the financing process is currently being structured, with finalization expected in the coming months. The development will also include dredging and will feature road and rail access, connecting to a railway located just 4 km from the Port of São Francisco do Sul, streamlining cargo movement. Additionally, TGB will have a storage capacity exceeding 400,000 tonnes, positioning it as a key export hub.
