New draft at Cattalini Terminals increase cargo handling potential

Cattalini Meritime Terminals increased the draft of the internal berth of its private pier, from 11.50 to 12 meters. The formalization of the increase took place last week, with the consent of the Maritime and Port Authorities and the Pilotage of Paranaguá, attesting to the safety conditions of the ships’ maneuvers.
“The potential gain in handling is approximately 2,000 tons of liquid bulk per vessel. Investments in dredging and improvements in maritime and land structures ensure safety and agility in operations and a reduction in freight costs”, evaluated José Paulo Fernandes, the company’s CEO.
After the recent dredging campaigns, the external berth of the private pier increased to 12.8 meters and the internal berth to the current 12 meters. The structure has the capacity to receive ships of 229 and 190 meters in length, respectively.
Last year, Cattalini handled more than 5.1 million tons of liquid bulk, an increase of 18% compared to 2021. The results were mainly driven by exports of vegetable oils and biodiesel and imports of petroleum derivatives and caustic soda.
