New Export Operation from the Port of Concepción del Uruguay

Amid heavy rainfall, the cargo vessel African Kestrel arrived at the Port of Concepción del Uruguay in Argentina’s Entre Ríos province at 7:40 a.m. today.

The 180-meter-long, Bahamas-flagged vessel completed its berthing maneuvers at docks 14, 15, and 16.

Before loading operations began, the vessel underwent inspections by Argentine Customs, Senasa, and the Argentine Naval Prefecture.

The African Kestrel is set to load 18,000 tonnes of pine logs sourced from cultivated forests in the provinces of Entre Ríos, Corrientes, and Misiones.

This type of export underscores the Port of Concepción del Uruguay’s role as a strategic hub for Argentina’s forestry trade, boosting the regional economy and generating jobs.

Port Operations Underway

Despite adverse weather conditions, loading operations will continue uninterrupted around the clock, leading to increased heavy vehicle traffic in the port area.

Transport operators and logistics personnel are advised to take necessary precautions to ensure safety and maintain an efficient workflow.

The African Kestrel is expected to remain at the port for three to four days, depending on weather conditions. Forecasts indicate continued rainfall in the coming days, which could impact loading times.

Final Destination and Continued Loading

After completing its loading operations in Concepción del Uruguay, the African Kestrel will sail to the Port of Ibicuy, located south of Entre Ríos province on the Paraná River.

There, the vessel will take on additional cargo before departing for its international destination.

This operation reflects the steady growth of port activity in the region, strengthening the forest product export chain and reinforcing Argentina’s position in the global timber trade.
