The Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) optimistically received the information about the qualification of new pig and poultry plants for export to China. The list with the producing units was published yesterday (09/09), by the Chinese Government.

According to the publication, six poultry plants and one pig plant are among the new plants that were enabled. With this, Brazil now has 43 units of chicken meat production and 11 units of pork authorized to export to China.

Another novelty is the authorization of shipments of bone-in pork cuts from other states, besides Santa Catarina. Before, only Santa Catarina plants could ship these products to the Chinese market.

“The qualifications crown the work performed for the inspections of the units, with the unprecedented adoption of online transmission, coordinated by the Ministry of Agriculture and ABPA, alongside the companies in the sector,” says Francisco Turra, ABPA president.

China is the main destination for poultry and pork exports from Brazil. Between January and August, the Asian country imported 348,200 tons of chicken meat (19% higher than in the same period last year) and 133,500 tons of pork (+31%, according to the same comparison).

The shares of slaughterhouses increase

Minerva and Marfrig shares rose sharply on Monday, 09/09, in response to China’s authorization for 25 meat production units to export to the country.

Marfrig, which received 2 new authorizations, moved to 11 units that have the authorization: 5 in Brazil, 4 in Uruguay, and 2 in Argentina.

Minerva said the two units that were authorized today are capable of slaughtering a total of 3,500 cattle per day. It now has 3 plants approved by the Chinese. Considering the ones in Uruguay and Argentina, the total goes up to 7.

The two units released from BRF represent a daily slaughtering capacity of 300,000 chickens and 5,000 pigs. The company now has 9 plants authorized to export to China: 7 of chicken and 2 of pigs.
