Norsul is discussing initiatives in favor of energy efficiency at Intermodal 2023.
At the trade fair, the company organized an interactive stand in which a virtual panel allows the public to navigate through the services offered by Norsul via touchscreen technology. It is also possible to learn about four of the company’s initiatives in energy efficiency: IoT, underwater drones, special silicone paint, and renewable energy.
In partnership with a startup, Norsul developed a monitoring software that uses IoT (internet of things) technology to ensure greater security to the crew and the services delivered by the company. The solution helps monitor and visualize various parameters through quick queries to a bot on WhatsApp or accessing a web platform – which offers more details through graphs and management panels.
The tool monitors over 280 parameters in real-time, including speed, fuel consumption, position, wind, current, temperature, and others. The system also tracks the movements of vessels in Brazil, which are collected and transmitted to a cloud server every 10 seconds.
Underwater drones are used in vessel inspections, performed using underwater vehicles and remotely operated drones (ROV), and in collaboration with startups that use sector-specific technologies. They collaborated with Norsul to create new inspection tools that combine technology 4.0 and IoT (Internet of Things).
Norsul can reduce fuel consumption and, as a result, pollutant emissions through a unique silicone anti-fouling technology. In terms of renewable energy, the company employs a solar panel system that reduces fuel consumption on anchored barges, resulting in increased efficiency and operational comfort while lowering fossil fuel use. This initiative is also a forerunner in the country’s cabotage.
