Norsul has announced the arrival of its newest vessel, named Babitonga Bay. Built in 2015, this multipurpose handysize ship, with a capacity of up to 39,000 deadweight tonnes, is a significant addition to the company’s fleet.

The ship is equipped with five cargo holds and four cranes, each capable of lifting up to 36 tonnes. The vessel docked in Vitória, Espirito Santo, on August 16 and will be integrated into Norsul’s operations, particularly for transporting steel products.

“The Babitonga Bay represents an important milestone for Norsul, as it strengthens our operating capacity and allows us to better meet the needs of our customers,” said Fabiano Lorenzi, Norsul’s Commercial Director. “With this new addition, our fleet grows to 20 assets, including ships, pushers, and ocean barges, solidifying our position as one of Brazil’s largest shipping companies in terms of owned vessels and reinforcing our investment in the cabotage sector.”

Currently, Norsul’s steel coil transportation route is served by four ocean barges and two pushers, in addition to another multipurpose ship, the Pio Grande, built in 2012. The inclusion of the Babitonga Bay will enable the company to enhance the efficiency and capacity of its logistics operations.
