Norsul opens cabotage route for biodiesel freightage

Norsul designed an unprecedented cabotage route for BSBIOS, an ECB Group firm, to carry out the first freightage operation for biodiesel with 100% carbon neutrality. The voyage of the ship Taruca began at the Port of Paranaguá and ended at the Port of Suape. The transport took roughly 14 days and is the first time BSBIOS has supplied biofuel to the Northeast region.
In total, Norsul transported four million liters of biodiesel from the BSBIOS plant in Marialva (Paraná) to a distribution center in Brazil’s northeast. All emissions were offset through Norsul’s Carbon Neutral Program, which neutralized 450,000 tonnes of CO2 since the beginning of the project in 2020.
The process of operationalizing the new route took 90 days. It entailed the collaboration of teams from both Norsul and BSBIOS to discover the optimum logistical and environmental solution for freight transport, which was found in cabotage.
The operation, which benefits both parties, encourages the expansion of BSBIOS’ business and expands Norsul’s routes.
