The P32 oil platform, decommissioned by Petrobras, is on its way from Rio de Janeiro to Rio Grande, where it will be dismantled by Gerdau in partnership with Ecovix at the Rio Grande Shipyard (ERG). The vessel is expected to arrive between December 5th and 8th.
The structure’s auction was announced on July 7th this year, bringing positive news to the Rio Grande naval industry, which had previously focused only on construction initiatives. Approximately 200 job opportunities will be created, contributing to employment and income generation for the municipality.
Fernando Estima, the Planning and Development Manager of Portos RS, highlighted the significance of this process, which required collaboration between various leaders, including Rio Grande Mayor Fábio Branco and federal deputies Alexandre Lindenmeyer, Daniel Trzeciak, and others.
Estima also mentioned Petrobras President Jean Paul Prates, who visited Rio Grande in May this year, learning more about the EBR shipyard. “Portos RS, which has been involved in and mobilizing efforts since the beginning of the process, celebrates the new contracts in the naval industry,” he concluded.
