Ocean Network Express (ONE) has just launched a maritime safety and quality campaign. Since it began operations in April 2018, the company has used the Vessel Quality Standard (VQS), a standard used to inspect vessels, but with the pandemic caused by the new coronavirus this type of inspection has been suspended.
With this, a new challenge was launched: self-inspection, which will be carried out by the ship’s crew as part of the ONE Safety and Quality 2020 Campaign. This campaign will be carried out from July to December and aims to maintain the safety and quality of service of ONE’s fleet during the pandemic.
Thus, all ships operated by ONE are encouraged to identify and repair possible defects using an automatic checklist. A prize named ‘VQS Excellent Cooperation’ will be awarded to vessels most engaged in the cause.
According to ONE, through the campaign the company intends to raise security awareness in collaboration with its business partners, expanding its efforts in safe and efficient operations.
