
Operator Santos Brasil Sees 31% Container Surge At Its Terminals

In December, Santos Brasil, a key player in port operations, handled 107,200 containers, marking a robust 31% surge compared to the same period in 2022. Among these, 83,200 containers were stuffed, 24,100 were empty, and 11,100 were stored within the port terminals.
Throughout 2023, Santos Brasil facilitated the transportation of 1.23 million containers, registering a modest annual decline of 5.3%. Within this total, 896,900 containers were loaded, while 336,800 were empty.
In December, the general cargo throughput amounted to 8,500 tons, an impressive surge of 628.7%.
Tecon Santos terminal spearheaded the container handling activities, overseeing the movement of 95,100 containers. Simultaneously, Tecon Imbituba and Tecon Vila do Conde experienced the transit of 2,600 and 9,500 containers, respectively.
Shifting the focus to the vehicles market, 16,000 units were transported in December, marking a marginal annual decline of 4.2%. Among these, 15,400 units were destined for export, while 625 units were imported.
