The Philippine government announced it will accept Brazil’s sanitary certification over exports of ornamental fish.
This marks the third market opening in the Philippines in the last six months, following the authorization for the export of tilapia fingerlings and animal recycling products granted in January.
In 2023, the Philippines imported over US$907 million in Brazilian agribusiness products, primarily beef, chicken, and pork, which accounted for 66% of this total. From January to May this year, more than US$594 million worth of products were exported.
With this announcement, Brazilian agribusiness has achieved its 69th market opening this year, bringing the total to 147 openings in 51 countries since the beginning of 2023.
These successes are the result of collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
