On Tuesday (July 9), Governor Elmano de Freitas announced several initiatives to enhance the Pecém Industrial Port Complex (CIPP) infrastructure and its access points. The plan includes an order to construct a roundabout at the port’s entrance gate 2, a funding release of R$3.9 million for building access loops between roads CE-085 and CE-155, and implementing 5G technology throughout the Complex by Brisanet. Attendees at the ceremony included Hugo Figueirêdo, president of CIPP, and Fábio Feijó, president of the Ceará Export Processing Zone (ZPE).
These immediate actions are part of the Pact for Pecém, a collaboration involving the State Government, CIPP, the Legislative Assembly of Ceará, the city councils of Caucaia and São Gonçalo do Amarante and the Association of Companies of the Pecém Industrial Port Complex (AECIPP).
Hugo Figueirêdo expressed gratitude to the Ceará Government for its support and reiterated the Complex’s commitment to state development. “The Pact was initially created in 2011 and renewed in August last year. The need for coordinated and integrated efforts within the Complex’s territory was evident from the beginning. Despite new challenges, I reaffirm CIPP and the Government of Ceará’s dedication to the state’s overall development.”
José Roberto Nogueira, CEO of Brisanet, discussed the company’s progress, including the goal of bringing 5G technology to rural areas of Ceará. “It’s gratifying to see a company from Pereiro, a small town in Ceará, become the largest telecommunications company in Brazil. We aim to extend this technology to rural areas of our state as well,” he remarked.
The implementation of 5G in the areas covering the Pecém Complex, the Export Processing Zone (ZPE), the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Ceará (IFCE), and the town of Pecém is part of Brisanet’s commitment to National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL) signed in 2021. José Roberto Nogueira stated that the installation of nine towers is currently underway and should be completed within 70 days.
New road access
Additionally, before the Pact for Pecém meeting, Governor Elmano de Freitas inaugurated the expansion of CE-155, a 21km stretch connecting the port to highway BR-222. Supervised by the Public Works Superintendence (SOP), this project will increase the capacity for heavy vehicle circulation and improve transport logistics for CIPP. The investment totaled R$84,194,059.43, funded by both state and federal sources.
