According to data from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Paraguay successfully entered three new markets during the first half of 2024, exporting products such as frozen meat and offal. This market expansion solidifies the country’s position as a global food producer.
Data from the Intelligence Directorate of the Vice-Ministry of Rediex (Investment and Export Network) show that Paraguay has achieved significant export figures in regions previously underserved over the past twenty years, including the Central African Republic, Kenya, and Cambodia.
In the Central African Republic, exports had not been recorded since 2004, except for small shipments of powdered milk and chicken meat in 2022, valued at US$116,000. In the first half of 2024, Paraguay exported products worth USD 654,000 to this country, primarily consisting of beef, including ground and frozen beef.
Similarly, Paraguayan products had not had a significant presence in Cambodia since 2011. However, in the first half of 2024, exports worth US$259,000 were recorded, mainly comprising frozen beef offal.
Regarding Kenya, although there were records of wheat exports between 2010 and 2012, there had been no commercial relationship since then. Notably, between January and June of this year, Paraguay exported a tea extraction plant, originating in the United States, to Kenya, worth US$2.2 million. This demonstrates Paraguay’s capability to facilitate and manage the export of industrial products to Africa.
Additionally, the Investment and Export Network highlighted that in June alone, soybean oil worth US$323,595 was sent to the British Virgin Islands, and paddle tennis rackets worth US$59,024 were exported to Italy.
