Paraguay: exports generate USD 3,800M in Jan-Aug 2022

According to Paraguay’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce, between January and August 2022, the country’s industrial, manufacturing, and agro-industrial sectors managed to export goods worth US$ 3,838 million, accounting for 67% of all commodities handled this year.
Similarly, the economic report of the Vice-Ministry of Industry pointed out that, of the US$ 3,838 million exported, 27% (US$ 1,018 million) corresponded to manufactured goods, while 73% (US$ 2,820 million) were related to agribusiness.
Furthermore, the study indicated that when comparing the value gained in the period studied to the value obtained in the same period in 2021, which was US$ 3,232 million, a 19% increase stands out.
Manufactured products
From January to August 2022, the total export of manufactured products corresponded to a total of 1,018 million dollars, a value 27% higher than the US$ 808 million registered from January to August 2021.
Almost 76% of manufactured shipments were destined for the countries of Mercosur, where Brazil accounted for 60%, Argentina 14%, and Uruguay 2%. Other relevant destinations were the United States, 6%; Chile and Bolivia, 4% each; Germany, Canada, India, Peru, and Ecuador, 1% each.
In terms of exported products, the manufacture of garments and auto parts are tied for first with 19% each, followed by aluminum products and herbicides and fertilizers with 11% and 8% respectively.
Agro-industrial goods
As for exports of agro-industrial goods, the statistics point to an increase of 16% compared to the same period (January to August) of 2021. The accumulated values of exports reached a total of US$ 2,820 million, which represented US$ 395 million more than the accumulated in the months of January to August of the year 2021 (US$ 2,425 million).
Meat products and derivatives account for 49% of total exports, followed by the oil of vegetable and animal origin (20%), wheat and leftovers (19%), beverages (3%), leather (2%), baking mix (2%), and sugar (1%).
As a whole, Mercosur concentrated 29% of the total agribusiness goods exported from January to August 2022.
