Paraguay: Growth of pork exports to Taiwan exceeded 1,000% in the last two years

In the last two years, the trade relationship between Paraguay and Taiwan has experienced significant growth, particularly in the pork meat sector, which increased by 1,055% in volume (tons) and 1,152% in value compared to 2023.

By the end of 2024, Paraguay had exported 9,124 tons of pork meat to Taiwan, valued at USD 28 million, representing 86% of its total exports in this category. According to official data from SENACSA (National Service for Animal Quality and Health), Paraguay is Taiwan’s third-largest pork meat supplier.

Regarding the evolution over the past two years, comparing the first two months of 2025 with the same period in 2023, there was an increase of 1,520,528 kilograms, reflecting a 1,055% growth. In terms of revenue, the positive difference reached a rise of 1,152% compared to the same period in 2023.

Export expectations for this year reached 15,000 tons, which will further strengthen trade between both nations.

It is worth noting that the Vice Ministry of REDIEX, with the presence of Trade Attachés and the Paraguayan Embassy in the Republic of Taiwan, is working diligently to increase shipments to this destination and open the door for new Paraguayan products.

Beef in Taiwan

Another Paraguayan product that has shown steady growth in recent years is beef. According to official data, Paraguayan beef exports to Taiwan increased by 68.4% in volume and 109% in revenue.

By the end of February 2025, exports of red meat to Taiwan increased by 2,946,777 kilograms compared to the same period in 2023. There was a positive difference of USD 22 million in revenue, representing an increase of 109%.

With an upward trend in exports and the strengthening of trade ties, the Paraguayan meat sector is projected to continue expanding its presence in Taiwan and other international markets.
