Paraguay registers a 27% increase in exports

Between January and October of 2021, Paraguay recorded total exports of US$9,013 million, 26.6% more than in October 2020, when exports totaled US$7,117 million.
The foreign trade report prepared by SSEE (the integration directorate of the undersecretary of state of the economy) also states that if “re-exports” and “other exports” are included, the year-on-year growth of total exported goods reached 25.7%.
Registered imports reached 10.753 million dollars, 29.8% more than registered in October 2020.
The Foreign Trade Report also shows that Mercosur became the main destination for exports, representing 62.6% of total exports, valued at 5.645 million dollars in 2021. In the same period of 2020, Mercosur exports totaled 4.442 million dollars.
Mercosur was also the main source of imports, reaching 34.4% of the total, informed the Paraguay Ministry of Finance of Paraguay.
In relation to cargo, the increases in shipments of soybeans (+38.7%) and Beef (+53.7%) were the ones that presented the greatest positive contribution. The item with the greatest negative impact was electricity, with a drop of 8.9% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Chemicals/rubber/plastics and machinery/equipment were the categories that most influenced the increase in imports, increasing 29.6% and 40.4%, respectively.
