Paraguay has begun exporting peppers to Argentina, with the shipment of 15,000 kilos, as announced by Carlos Giménez, Minister of Agriculture. This first shipment is the result of negotiations between the Ministry of Agriculture, producers, and Argentine importers.
Argentina demands large peppers, so a special classification must be made before exporting. To date, more than 15 shipments have been exported to several Argentine provinces, including Santa Fe, Córdoba, Mendoza and Buenos Aires. According to Karen Leguizamón, of the Association of Fruit and Vegetable Importers and Traders, these shipments have generated more than 2,200 million Guarani for Caaguazú producers. She also stated that at least seven shipments of carrots from Itapúa and one shipment of onions from the Paraguayan Chaco area have been exported to Argentina.
Finally, Minister Giménez said they were working to start exporting Paraguayan cabbage to the Argentine market, which would further expand trade between the two countries in the agricultural sector.
