President Mario Abdo Benítez has announced that beef produced in Paraguay will have access to the Canadian market starting in September this year. The president expressed his congratulations to everyone involved in achieving this milestone and shared the news through his official Twitter account.
In response to this development, the National Animal Health and Quality Service (Senacsa) released a statement confirming that the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued the final report of the on-site audit conducted in 2022. The report indicates that Paraguay’s bovine inspection system provides a level of protection equivalent to that mandated by the Canadian Food Safety Act and Regulations.
Furthermore, the report highlights that Paraguay has demonstrated appropriate animal health controls for the export of boneless fresh/frozen meat and meat products from cattle vaccinated against foot-and-mouth disease.
Senacsa extended its congratulations and gratitude to all those involved in the process. They also reiterated the commitment of producers, the industry, and the National Government to promote and maintain a robust and reliable veterinary system.
