Exports from Paraguay totaled nearly $4 billion in April

Exports from Paraguay totaled 4,275.8 million dollars in April 2022, a -0.2% reduction from the 4,284.6 million dollars pocketed in April last year, according to a report released on May 11th by the Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP).
The publication details that registered exports represented 71.1% of the total, reaching 3,038.2 million dollars, 5.8% lower than the accumulated value of April 2021. Re-exports, on the other hand, with 24,9% of the total, entailed a value of 1,064.4 million dollars, with an increase of 32.7%.
The remaining 4.1% share corresponds to other exports from Paraguay in April, with 173.2 million dollars, 32.7% lower than the accumulated value in April last year. The reduction observed in registered exports is mainly explained by lower soybean grains, corn, and electricity shipments.
Meanwhile, shipments made under the maquila regime reached 312.0 million dollars, 15.2% higher than what was registered in the fourth month of 2021.

As of April 2022, total imports reached 4,557.0 million dollars, 24.9% higher than the same period of the previous year. Registered imports represented 95.9% of the total, reaching a value of 4,371.0 million dollars, 25.8% higher than the value of April 2021, while other imports represented the remaining 4.1%, for a value of 186.1 million dollars. In volumes, a reduction of 6.7% was observed.
The trade balance in April 2022 registered a deficit of 281.3 million dollars, lower by 917.2 million dollars compared to the surplus reported in the same period of 2021.
