The Single Window Export Consortium, a key facilitator for Paraguayan exporters, has revealed a notable uptick in the total export value during the first four months of 2024, as indicated in the certificates of origin. The consortium confirmed that exports surged to a total of US$2.79 billion, marking an increase of approximately US$380 million compared to the corresponding period last year.
The General Directorate of the Single Window Export System (DGVUE), an entity under the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, officially endorsed the global exports recorded during this period.
As per the report, the value of exports certified by the end of April stood at US$2.79 billion, reflecting a substantial growth of 15.24% compared to the same period in 2023, which amounted to US$2.422 billion. In nominal terms, this signals a recovery of US$368 million, a significant contrast to the first quarter of last year.
Destinations and Continents
In April 2024 alone, international exports totaled 1,226,617 tons, valued at US$774 million, according to the certificates of origin. Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, India, and the United States emerged as the primary destinations for these exports, as highlighted by CONVUE.
Breaking down by continent, America received 1 million tons, amounting to US$643 million. Asia received exports worth US$64 million, comprising approximately 93,362 tons, while Europe imported over 52,000 tons, valued at US$59 million. Africa and Oceania received exports worth between US$6 million and US$344 thousand, respectively, according to the certificates of origin.
Certificate of Origin
The Certificate of Origin serves as a declaration by the final producer or exporter, affirming that the exported goods meet the requirements stipulated by the rules of origin for their production. This document grants tariff benefits in the export destination country and/or enables utilization of existing import quotas.
Single Window Export Consortium
The Single Export Window Consortium (CONVUE), formed by the Paraguayan Chamber of Exporters and Traders of Cereals and Oilseeds (CAPECO), the Chamber of Exporters (CAPEX), and the Paraguayan Customs Broker Center (CDAP), emerged in 2013 through an agreement with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC). Vital for ensuring the functionality and efficiency of the Single Export Window (VUE), this consortium serves as a crucial tool for export processes, benefiting both the public and private sectors.
