Puerto Seguro Fluvial S.A., Paraguay’s leading multipurpose port terminal, proudly wraps up 2023 with a series of meaningful accomplishments. Renowned for delivering top-tier port services adhering to the highest quality standards, the terminal has consistently set historical benchmarks in its operations while embracing a culture of continuous innovation.
A standout achievement in 2023 was the inaugural shipment of Paraguayan pork to the Taiwanese market. This success, the result of collaborative efforts between Paraguay’s robust, productive sector and the national government, was made possible through the seamless logistics orchestrated by Puerto Seguro Fluvial.
Adding to the triumphs, CERVEPAR, a prominent brewing company, delivered its PILSEN beer brand to the European market, with Spain as the targeted destination. Once again, the logistical finesse of Puerto Seguro Fluvial played a pivotal role in ensuring a smooth and successful shipment.
Carlos Vargas, the General Manager of PSF, highlighted in an interview with Paraguay Fluvial y Logística that the port operates around the clock, with plans underway for short-term enhancements to further elevate the services’ quality to its clients.
Despite facing challenges such as low river levels, tolls on the Paraguay River Waterway, and a change in government throughout the year, Vargas emphasized that Puerto Seguro Fluvial has consistently excelled in service quality. This resilience and commitment to excellence have solidified the port’s standing as the preferred choice for various logistical operations.
Vargas underscored the company’s greatest asset as its human capital, hinting at significant improvements slated for staff training involving the 247-strong workforce. These initiatives are expected to translate into tangible enhancements in the suite of services offered by the terminal.
Charting a Course for Growth: Service and Infrastructure Upgrades
Looking ahead, the coming months promise the completion of several critical projects geared toward expanding and enhancing existing services within the port. Infrastructure enhancements, including additional facilities and equipment upgrades, are underway in the dock area. Collaboratively with MOVIPORT, two new modules for fertilizer handling are set to open, facilitating increased cargo volume.
Further developments include introducing new equipment for streamlined container movement, establishing an area for truck drivers designed to improve working conditions in the face of extreme heat, and creating essential facilities such as a nursing area and medical clinic, as per Carlos Vargas.
These strategic initiatives underscore the port’s commitment to growth and its dedication to maintaining a position at the forefront of service and infrastructure development. Nestled in the heart of Paraguay’s largest industrial and port hub, in the city of Villeta, Puerto Seguro Fluvial continues to occupy a strategic location for the ongoing evolution of port logistical operations.
