In 2024, Paraguay’s meat industry experienced a substantial boost in exports, increasing by 20% compared to last year.
According to the National Service for Animal Health and Quality (Senacsa), Paraguay exported 508,460 tonnes of meat and related products from January to August. This represents a significant jump from the 422,435 tonnes shipped in the same period last year, showing an increase of 86,025 tonnes.
Financial Gains
Revenue from these exports grew by 10%, reaching $1.508 billion, up $137.84 million from the $1.370 billion earned in the same period last year.
Beef exports saw a slight increase of 0.7%, totaling 221,686 tonnes, which is an additional 1,744 tonnes compared to the previous year.
The foreign exchange earnings from these exports also rose by 2%, totaling $1.075 billion. This is $21.30 million more than in the second quarter of 2023.
Chile remains the largest buyer of Paraguayan beef, importing 85,670 tonnes worth $441.61 million, which accounts for 39% of Paraguay’s total meat exports.
This strong growth highlights Paraguay’s vital role in the global meat market. Despite global challenges like supply disruptions and changing food trends, Paraguay’s meat industry continues to grow.
This growth significantly benefits Paraguay’s economy and establishes the nation as a key player in international trade, especially as food security and sustainable farming practices become increasingly important.
