A National Waterway Transportation Agency (ANTAQ) delegation visited the Port of Paranaguá this Thursday (5). Alexandre Florambel, the Superintendent of Oversight and Coordination of Regional Units, specialist Flávia Pontilhão, and the head of Curitiba’s regional unit, Thiago Fernando Bonetti, saw the work being carried out by Portos do Paraná.
“I recently assumed the role of superintendent, and I’m participating in the initiative to visit all regional units nationwide. What impressed me most about Portos do Paraná were its forward-looking, high-impact projects,” said Florambel.
One of the projects presented was the grain hopper known as “Moegão,” the most significant port infrastructure initiative currently under development in Brazil, with an estimated investment of R$592 million, funded by Portos do Paraná. This new rail unloading system is being built on a 600,000-square-meter site and will centralize the unloading of trains arriving at the Port of Paranaguá. The advanced facility will allow the simultaneous unloading of 180 railcars across three independent lines, increasing the port’s cargo handling capacity by 63%.
“We showcased our key infrastructure projects, such as the Moegão, which will further enhance our operations’ reliability and efficiency. All our activities and developments meet ANTAQ’s rigorous regulatory standards, providing waterway transport services and managing port infrastructure. This places us at the forefront of port operations in Brazil,” said Victor Kengo, Director of Engineering and Maintenance at Portos do Paraná.
The Financial Director, Marcos Bonoski, Legal Director, Marcus Freitas, and Operations Director, Gabriel Vieira, also welcomed the delegation. Earlier this year, in May, another ANTAQ delegation visited Paraná ports. In addition to Thiago Bonetti, directors Alber Furtado de Vasconcelos Neto and Caio César Farias Leôncio were introduced to the authority’s operations in Paraná.
Awards and Achievements
Portos do Paraná is a three-time champion in the Regulatory Compliance category of the ANTAQ Awards, recognizing its commitment to adhering to regulations and managing risks effectively. In 2024, the public company also ranked among the top three in the Innovative Initiatives in Climate Emergency and ESG category with its “Sustainable Communities” project. This initiative implements ecological sewage treatment systems on Eufrasina Island, along the Paraná coast.
