The Paranaguá Container Terminal (TCP) achieved seven new productivity records in October, one of which was the milestone of handling 1 million TEUs (loading and unloading). This achievement occurred a week earlier than in 2022. The terminal transported 125,305 TEUs in the same month, surpassing the previous monthly record of 111,862 set in July of last year.
Out of the total October throughput, 22,961 TEUs were reefer containers, setting a new record in this segment, exceeding the 21,493 TEUs achieved in July. Giovanni Guidolim, TCP’s Commercial, Logistics, and Service Manager, stated, “We have the largest reefer park among Brazilian terminals. With the completion in 2024 of the works to increase the number of plugs in our yard from 3,572 to 5,126, we can meet the demand of our customers with more flexibility and agility, strengthening our presence in this market.” Over 95% of the cargoes transported in reefer containers were frozen meats, the primary commodity exported by the terminal.
One reason for reaching this milestone is the record number of ships docked in a single month: 77 ships in October. “The significant flow of vessels is also a reflection of the increase in the number of weekly maritime calls, which reached 19 in 2023, ensuring TCP’s position as a leading service provider in Brazil,” explained Carolina Brown, Commercial Manager of Shipping Lines.
The terminal set two new gate records in road transport (truck entry and exit point): Throughout the month, 45,877 containers were transported, including 2,245 in a single day, breaking the previous monthly and daily records set in September. Four hundred fifteen containers were handled via railway, breaking the previous record set in July 2023.

TCP reaches the milestone of 16 million containers handled
In August 2023, TCP achieved a historic landmark by handling 16 million TEUs. This number includes movements since its foundation in 1998.
To enhance its productivity, the terminal is implementing a package of investments totaling R$ 370 million until the end of this year. Completed projects include the purchase of 17 Terminal Tractors (TTs), the acquisition of 11 Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes, the electrification of two RTGs operating on the railway line, and the construction of a new Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) model, among others.
