For the first time in its history, TCP – the company that manages the Paranaguá Container Terminal, surpassed 1 million TEU handled in one year. The record level is the sum of the movement carried out between the months of January and November and was mainly driven by investments made in infrastructure and by the export of refrigerated cargo, which makes the Terminal the largest frozen meat outlet in Brazil.
Of the total cargo handled in the first 11 months of the year, 57.52% corresponded to exports, especially meats and frozen foods, and 42.48% to imports, especially consumer goods and electronics. During the period, the railroad handled 115,310 TEU.
The company’s expectation is to end 2021 with approximately 1.09 million TEU operated, which will represent a growth of 11.75% compared to 2020.
In the year-on-year comparison, the capital goods segment grew the most. The growth was 94% compared to the same period of the previous year. In imports, rubber products grew 86%.
