Pecém Complex describes the Green Hydrogen HUB to the German government and potential investors

To discuss the potentials for Green Hydrogen (H2V) in Brazil, the Brazil-Germany Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK) of Rio de Janeiro held a workshop on Tuesday, May 25, with representatives of the governments of Brazil and Germany, in addition to potential national and international investors. The commercial director of the Pecém Complex, Duna Uribe, gave details about the Green Hydrogen HUB that will be implemented in Ceará and how the competitive advantages of the Pecém Complex can transform the state into a major producer and exporter of clean fuel.
According to Duna, the Pecém Complex has all the competitive advantages necessary to become a large cluster of Green Hydrogen. “We have enormous potential for generating renewable energy, in addition to a strategic location; tax incentives different from an EPZ; robust infrastructure; and a solid business ecosystem, including the partnership with the Port of Rotterdam, which will be the HUB that imports H2V into Europe”, he adds.
The commercial director of Complexo do Pecém also recalls that they have already identified a 200-hectare area on the premises with solid potential for Hydrogen production. According to projections, if installed in this area, Ceará’s Green Hydrogen HUB would have the capacity to produce around 900,000 tons of clean fuel annually.
“We are in Ceará, a state where more than 45% of the energy matrix already comes from wind generation. In the future, this percentage will exceed 70%, including photovoltaic solar energy. This natural potential of Ceará and the Northeast as a whole, combined with the differentials of the Pecém Complex, leads us to believe that with the Green Hydrogen HUB, we will have an electrolysis capacity (the process used to obtain H2V) of 5 gigawatts”, points out Duna.
