On November 23, the Pecém Port Complex closed a deal with Lion Mining to export 60,000 tonnes of iron ore to China from December to January. The contract signing occurred on the second day of Expolog – an International Logistics Fair, the largest event of its kind in the North/Northeast, held at the Ceará Events Center.
Lion Mining is a Brazilian company based in the state of Piauí, specializing in the production of granules and sinter feed, catering to both the Brazilian and international markets. The mining company aims to export at least 200,000 tons through the Pecém Port in 2024.
“We already have expertise in handling iron ore, especially for imports. The signing of this new contract shows our ability to handle this type of cargo. It was the product of an immense team effort involving our service providers and partners,” celebrates André Magalhães, Commercial Director of the Pecém Complex. This year, up until October, the Pecém Port has handled 4 million tonnes of iron ore.
Earlier this month, the port saw the shipment of 104,000 tons of manganese, utilizing three Mobile Harbor Cranes (MHC) and buckets. The material was extracted from the municipalities of Ocara and Pentecoste in the interior of Ceará. It was loaded onto the Diamond Power ship destined for the QINZHOU Port in China.
