Engineer Francisco Martins, a native of Pernambuco, has taken over as the President of PortosRio, with the challenge of leading the administration of the Ports of Rio de Janeiro, Niterói, Itaguaí, and Angra dos Reis. His inauguration was officially held last Wednesday, on the 11th.
Over the course of four years, from January 2019 to January this year, Francisco Martins held key positions in the Industrial and Port Complex of Suape. He served as the Director of Planning, Director of Port Operations, and CEO.
With a career spanning more than 30 years in Brazil and various other countries in Latin America, Martins has a solid academic background, including postgraduate degrees in Environmental Management, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Project Management. His extensive experience covers the management of industrial and port projects, team leadership, strategic planning, and sustainability policies.
Furthermore, Francisco Martins actively participated in the transition group within the infrastructure team of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s government. This group was coordinated by the former Minister of Planning, Budget, and Management under Dilma Rousseff, Miriam Belchior.
Martins has expressed his determination to foster the growth and competitiveness of the ports under his administration. His focus lies on modernizing the infrastructure and port management, attracting new businesses, and, most importantly, improving the efficiency of the ports, all in alignment with the guidelines of the Ministry of Ports and Airports and the Federal Government. He has also emphasized the vital involvement of company employees and synergy with all port operators and other stakeholders involved in the operation of the port complex.
