MIDAGRI (Peru’s ministry of agrarian development and irrigation) has approved the health requirements for importing Brazilian pork.
A Sanitary Import Permit for livestock was therefore authorized.
Brazilian Pork Exports (HS 0203) per quarter | Jan 2018 to Mar 2021 | TEU
According to the established guidelines, during the 60 days leading up to the export, the originating establishment, the slaughterhouse, and a 10 km- surrounding area may not be subject to quarantine or pig-movement restrictions.
In addition, it is emphasized that the establishment from which the product originates must have a traceability system in place and in operation in the swine chain, systematically verified by Brazil’s competent authority. This allows the tracing of the entire trajectory of the meat – from its inception and origin in the primary phase to its distribution destination and vice versa.
The meat must be packaged with new materials. The package must be labeled with the name of the product, the country of origin, the number of the authorized establishment, the date of production, its validity, and the batch. This ensures traceability to the origin of the imported pigs.
