The president of the Chancay Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism, Nilo Miranda, stated that the mega port is a gateway to international trade and a catalyst for transforming the city into a developed urban hub, similar to major port cities like Shanghai, China.

“We would love to see strategic planning so that Chancay can become, in just a few years, a major urban city, a port city,” said Miranda in an interview with the Peruvian News Agency.
In this context, the comparison with Shanghai is no coincidence, as they aim to emulate the trajectory of the Chinese city, which in a short period transformed into one of the world’s leading metropolises, becoming a center for commerce, innovation, and development.

The vision is for Chancay to be a transit point for goods and an attractive place to live, work, and invest. “Shanghai began in a way very similar to Chancay. However, it has become one of the most highly developed cities over time. If China has the pearl of the East, why can’t we have the pearl of the Andes here in Chancay?” added Miranda.

Miranda emphasized the need for comprehensive strategic planning to achieve this transformation. This plan should involve all levels of government, from the Executive and legislative branches to regional and local governments.

He stressed the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders to implement effective public policies that promote Chancay’s development. “For this, we need to work together. All Peruvians, including authorities, the Executive Branch, the Legislative Branch, and regional governments, need to coordinate so that everyone contributes their part,” concluded the Chancay Chamber of Commerce president.
