Peruvian ports hauled more than 3.5 million containers in 2024, with DP World and APM Terminals leading containerized cargo throughput at the Callao port complex.
According to Peru’s National Port Authority, “operational efficiency and port infrastructure modernization in 2024 resulted in a significant 11.1% increase in container throughput compared to the previous year.”
“As a result, the National Port System handled over 3.5 million TEUs from January to December 2024, up from 3.1 million TEUs in 2023,” the agency added.
DP World Callao, which operates the South Pier at Peru’s primary port, recorded a new throughput record of 1.9 million TEUs, significantly outpacing all other port facilities. APM Terminals Callao, which manages the North Pier, ranked second, handling 1.1 million twenty-foot containers.
Together, Callao Port processed 3 million TEUs, solidifying its position as Peru’s busiest container gateway.
Outside Callao, Paita Port Terminal, operated by Terminales Portuarios Euroandinos, ranked as the second busiest, moving over 309,000 TEUs.
In third place, General San Martín Port Terminal, managed by Puerto de Paracas, handled more than 75,000 TEUs.
At the bottom of the ranking, Southern Peru Port Terminal, operated by Southern Peru, processed just over 19,000 TEUs.
