The Piauí Export Processing Zone (EPZ) successfully dispatched another container carrying 20 tonnes of carnauba wax type 3. The container is bound for the port of Pecém in Ceará, from where the cargo will be shipped to the London Gateway, a new port terminal near London, United Kingdom.
The customs clearance process was overseen by Sônia Sales, the administrative director of EPZ Piauí, and technical advisors Djalma Lacerda and Bruno Rafael. Sônia emphasized the significant progress in Piauí’s international trade relations and attributed it to the state government’s substantial investments in completing Piauí EPZ, including establishing the Customs Clearance Area.
Álvaro Nolleto, the president of Piauí EPZ, highlighted the robustness of the carnauba agribusiness in the region, which has been further bolstered by the presence of Indústria Agrocera’s manufacturing unit within the Piauí EPZ perimeter. “It is important to point out that this new dynamic in Piauí, based on the EPZ, with foreign trade, produces very positive effects on the local economy, as it moves the carnauba production chain, generating hundreds and even thousands of opportunities for work and income,” he commented.
Álvaro also commended Governor Rafael Fonteles for his efforts in positioning Piauí EPZ as a catalyst for regional development as part of a comprehensive set of regional investments currently being implemented.
